Michael Shilling

Michael William Schilling is an industry veteran with extensive global leadership and advisory board success in large multinational corporations and startups in multiple countries.
His responsibilities have included leadership as a country manager, general manager, strategic sales lead, and business development in competitive and developing markets for many firms in medical devices, healthcare services and distribution, FMCG, automotive, chemicals and other industries.
His work includes positions at Mitsui & Co. (Strategic Sales), Motorola (Audit), Lear, PCS Wireless (Finance), Kimberly-Clark (Global Consultant), Zimmer Biomet (Marketing), Asia Actual (GM, Sales).
His international experiences in consulting have broadened his perspective and leadership skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to foster collaborative relationships across diverse stakeholder groups.
He currently consults for MedMarket Access for corporate venture capital and business development, market entry, diligence and management advisory.
Michael is also a faculty lecturer in the UC Berkeley School of Engineering, Dept. of Bioengineering, and teaches in the joint Masters’ of Translational Medicine program at UCB/UCSF.
At UC San Diego, Michael is a lead instructor for NSF I-Corps, teaches and mentors in various international programs and in the MedTech Accelerator at UC San Diego.
Michael has a BSBA in Finance from John Carroll University in Cleveland, Ohio, earned his CJS at Nanzan University in Nagoya, Japan, and he holds a MIM (MBA Finance) from AGSIM – Thunderbird (now part of ASU).
