EARLY VENTURE STAGE

Early Venture Stage Program

Venture Series A & B

Course Overview

Early Venture Stage (Venture Series A & B):

This is the phase of a company’s life that is financed by the Series A & B rounds — usually an 18–24 month period for each Series. It’s by far the most significant stage because it is during this stage that the company must complete complex transitions to address scale and risk relative to size of financings.

Companies in this stage are measured by valuation inflection milestones. Building and de-risking capabilities are the main activities during the Series A & B phases. Investors here can include traditional institutional VC firms, Corporate venture capital (CVC), private equity (PE) firms, or any other financial or strategic capital backer.

You’re in this stage if you have:

  • A product that is being tested clinically
  • Evidence that sales cycles are fast and sales are efficient
  • Secured Series A and B funding

  • You can graduate to the next stage when you’ve:
  • Achieved significant growth
  • Hired a more complete team, including sales
  • Attracted incremental rounds of Series A and B funding
  • Shifted corporate attitude from operating a risky startup to building a company with sustainable growth

  • Certification
  • At the end of 12 months, CEOs successfully completing the requirements, will receive a certification to progress to the Late Growth Stage
